Does throttle linkage affect transmission shifting?

Hi all,
this is my first time to post ,I have a W124 E220 MB,few weeks ago I turned
the plastic nut for the throttle linkage some turns ,the pedal became tight and had firm driving, but after few days I noticed that at start (start moving) the transmission engages and the car moves slowly then disengages before shifting to 2nd,and I hear the engine revs up,then shifting 2nd 3th is very smooth, then shifting from 3rd to 4th again the engine revs up,I tried to return the plastic nut of the throttle linkage to where it was but it seems I can't,still transmission disengages early in 1st and 3rd.
now I discovered that the throttle linkage nut is broken and not attached any more to the linkage (cable).
I have enclosed an attachment to see what I mean.
am going to buy another throttle linkage, the question is,can I adjust the linkage again to adjust shifting and remove this revs up that is really annoying?
thanks
