heres my question.
There is a guy selling a 617 out of a 5spd glenda. I want to put it in my 1984 240d . I am wondering if my 4spd trans will work using the flywheel from the 5spd, anyone done that before?
This place reminds me of somewhere I used to hang out .

donr know about the Gwagon flywheel, but if its simply a 617 flywheel its preferrable to the 240 flywheel.
also the 4 speed swap is fairly easy, while it is the incorrect part, the 240D auto crossmember works in a 300 4spd combination. you will also need to shorten your shifter rods by approximately 4 inches. Pretty simple, you cut them off and rethread them with a die.
you will also need to shorten your drive shaft approx 4 inches.
