I'll start with the stupid question first--has the oil level been checked with the "shop service tool" (aka "dipstick")? Each MB i've owned has been about spot-on by adding the amount of oil in the manual, but in this case i think i'd check for an overfill with a distick to see if actual level equals electronic level.

After confirming oil level is correct, have the code read and reset (most scan tools should do that one) to see if it may indeed be a lingering code.
