The compressor in my 85 240D was installed just before I got the car in 03 and works fine. I never noticed it wasn't standard equip till I noticed there is only one diagonal strut up front.
Next time I have the car up I'll see what brand it is.
According to the Russian site my Euro TD has a Tempmatic. Dont know if thats good or bad but it works
