Those are NOT skid plates!
They are encapsulation panels that help smooth the air flow and minimize turbulence under the car, as well as keep sand and other minor debris out of the engine compartment. It's useful for what it does, but it's not a "skid plate."
We had a custom skid plate fabricated from heavy-gauge aluminum for our stage rally racer, to help us bounce over rocks, logs, small- to medium-size animals and other such impediments to speed found out on the stages. It protects the oil pan and transmission in the front, and we have another one in the rear to protect the fuel pump.
What are you trying to accomplish?
Best Regards,
Rob
