Not really. China will remain a low cost production base compared to the US for the forseeable future. Ceasing to buy Chinese will not result in factories re-opening in the US. The US will simply buy stuff from other low cost producers else where in SEA.

That's the problem. The kinds of things suggested by trade wars and "buy American" are all short term things in which the US is simply at a disadvantage. That will not be turned around any time soon.
