That's because real education has been diluted and replaced with bs education.
Example:
In the state of Michigan, you cannot become a permanent teacher unless you have a major in Education. You don't even have to have a MINOR in your subject to teach it, as long as you have the BS in Ed.
This is why:
In a previous life, I wrote the training program for the Army MOS (Mil Occ Spec) 09LFR, which was French interpreter. We use French a lot in the Middle East and Africa, even China. I have three degrees, two in French and 27 years part-time experience as an interpreter, but I am not allowed to teach French in Michigan except as a substitute teacher.
I was detailed a French teacher from a Michigan High schoolto help. 10 years' experience.
But he could not put together a sentence. Since he was a navy LT (O-3 equiv) they sent him to AFG as a liaison with the French, who got rid of him. I asked him how he taught the language: "I just put on the 50 minute video CD and let it run the class."
This makes me vomit. No wonder the kids don't learn. The teachers are dumb, at least in Michigan.
Oh and let's not talk about Detroit, because that would be racist. It's not racism, it's instutionalized incompetence.
