If it's the 722.6xx transmission, the o-rings on the electrical adaptor fail, allowing trans fluid into the electrical plug where it then migrates up to the tansmission controller and causes failure. Controller should be under the passenger floor (at least is on left hand drivers). If you've had a tranny fluid leak out of that adaptor plug it's a good bet.
