Poor guy. You don't want to mock the dead but you have to wonder why someone would press on, after an uncertain turn, and on an unpaved road after dark, for 20 miles.

Some details of Chretien's ordeal came out during the news conference, including how she and her husband strayed 20 miles off Idaho 51-Nevada 225 onto a little-used and unpaved U.S. Forest Service road.

Chretien's son Raymond said his parents, who were en route to a trade show in Las Vegas, were navigating with a map and GPS unit, but were unaware of their mistake because of the darkness.
