Well actually the VW has much more, difference is that you looking at 6.7L Cummins truck engine VS 5.0L VW SUV engine....
Cummins is only 98 ft-lb more. In their production figures this working something like Cummins is 97ft-lb per liter and the VW is 112 ft-lb per liter
If you think liter VS torque....the VW is way ahead, perhaps you've missed the part that for this test they put additional 4500 lb of sand inside bringing the total curb weight to a whopping 11000 lb. This is the same as Dodge Ram 4X4 Quad cab...now dropping all this into the pot and I am sorry to say but the Cummins is a loosing battle.
