years ago CAT came out with a range of turbo 4 cylinder road graders (Little screamers), over hear they were the 130 G, many replaced old 12G's (6 cylinder large capacity) graders. The little screamers were just not up to the job of the old over engineered ones.
Some how I think the Cummins is not tweaked to the max like the VW would be.

Yep the dyno numbers don't always tell the whole story.
A Cummins is built to work at probably 80% for 500k miles between overhauls. The VW diesel is built for car use 200k maybe, can't overhaul it.
