Charge it up and retest. The voltage should not go down when you rev the engine. If it still does, then there's still something wrong, the most important result of which being that the battery won't be charging at speed :O

Like others have said, it seems like an awful lot of trouble to go through to avoid replacing that oddball alternator with a US-available part. Hit a junkyard if need be.
