I suggest that whatever mechanism these cars have to adjust the fuel according to load...is maladjusted...
it is not normal or correct for the engine to smoke just because there is more load .. that puff of smoke on trucks it just the result of the compensating mechanism not being able to adjust during the shifting and quick changes in load... this is an air/ fuel ratio problem.
