From my experience a dry/creaking bushing is on a fast road to failing, so perhaps a change might be best if you don't want a big job or the expense of having it done. I sometimes wonder if Mercedes used environmentally friendly rubber on some pieces during those years as well. I just got back from driving the C car and although very different from my S coupe, it's a pleasure to drive.
