I can't see how bigger holes in the plastic fender liners would be a bad thing. It would make flushing out to below an easier thing. My issue was that once the dirt came from the hood hinge pocket downward, the dirt would catch in the fender liner drain area and prevent water flow.
If the plastic was cut, flushing with the hose would be faster/easier.
