We all do anyways. However, part of the thing when you are a public figure is that you are a public figure. If this happened to you or I, nobody would give a damn and it probably won't appear as more than a court notice, if it gets to that. OTOH, when you are a public figure, you have to know that each and every thing you do or don't do becomes fair game to sell papers, so to speak. Few people outside the forum know you are a muslim. OTOH, that Obama has a muslim sounding name, well, it becomes fair game because he was running for President.
To take it even further, do I give a damn about your brother? Your sister, if she is hot, yes. Do you recall that they even mentioned some of the acts of Bill Clinton's brother? At one point, they even dregged up the fact that Obama's BIL who was an MD refused to take Medicare. Well, am I voting for Obama or his BIL? When you take such a position, EVERYTHING you do or don't do or even if it can be construed as your action or inaction is aired. If you cannot stand such scrutiny, STFU and don't do the job.
