I noticed that the oil filter on a 560SEL points up and the oil filter on a 560SL hangs down.

Questions:
- If a 560SEL engine is put in a 107 (SL) chassis, can the 560SEL oil filter assembly be used? If not, why not? (The smog air pump has been removed.)
- Is it easier to change the filter with one or the other? For instance, less mess from spills?
- Would the oil filter assembly from a 450SL bolt up to the 560SEL engine?
