This is under Electrical Specification on ALLDATA:

CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR
Sensor resistance 900 - 1600 Ohm
Insulation resistance >200 kOhm

And yes, my electrical knowledge is limited, so I'm more than likely reading something wrong. How do I measure the Insulation resistance?

The resistance of 993 Ohm is on the wire I got when I measured between the 2 wires at the conector end that hooks up to the CPS itself.

Thanks to Jim's site, I have found out that 4 signals go to ICM and are split between the two 8-pin connectors on the ICM.

On the 1st 8-pin connector:
pin 5=negative, position sensor/cylinder detector
pin 8=signal, camshaft position sensor (L5/1) output

On the 2nd 8-pin connector:
pin 1=signal, camshaft position sensor (L5/1) input
pin 5=ground, camshaft position sensor

Can anyone shed some light on my limitied electrical knowledge and advise what readings/tests I should perform
