Funny you should ask this question as I just finished replacing my multi-function switch with a new one. It was not hard to do but there are some things you should be aware of.
1. remove the little tri star plastic piece from the horn pad using a small screwdriver GENTLY.
2. You need a 10mm allen socket with 1/2" drive do not attempt to do this with a 3/8" drive. I read somewhere that this is on with 420 ft lbs of torque and thread locker.
I went to a tool store and bought a 10 mm allen wrench and a 10mm x 1/2" deep well impact socket. I cut the allen wrench with a hack saw my hand cramped on the hack saw.
3. You also need as least and 18" breaker bar and cheater.
4. Someone other than your children or significant other to hold the steering wheel while you break the bolt loose. DO NOT use the steering wheel lock to hold the steering wheel or you may be doing more repairs than you planned on.
5. Once the bolt is out mark the position of the steering wheel in relation to the splined shaft upon which it sits. I tried to use a metal scratch tool but ended up using a Sharpie pen as well.
6. There are three screws holding the multi function switch in place, before removing them you must remove the under dash panel so you can get to the multi pin plug under the dash. It might help to disconect the battery just to keep the smoke to a minimum.
7. Once the plug is disconnected you can pull up on the multi function switch But the cruise control switch will come with it. The Cruise control switch slides up out of the multi function housing but the wiring harness goes thru a clip which is attached on the back of the multi function switch. There are 2 clips which need to be squeezed together and then the clip will slide up also.
8. there are also 2 brushes taht make contact with the horn ring on the steering wheel. Do Not attempt to pry these out. Once the multi function switch is out you can push the brushes out from the back side and then just push them into the new unit. Push on the plastic not the brush itself.
9. Upon reassembly make sure that the signal stalk is centered before the steering wheel is put in place and test steering wheel position.
