Read your post about your modem speed. By chance, are you living in a new home or a subdivision? Have you connected at faster speeds before? It may be that there is a bridge between you and the phone company, and that always tends to slow things down. The phone company guarantees their lines to 28.8, and that's about it. I have friends that perpetually connect at 26.4.

No cable modem providers in your area?
