The fit of the spacer is fairly loose. I have been able to pull them with two, small flat screwdrivers, prying simultaneously 180 degrees apart. Prying with one screwdriver doesn't work well; the spacer needs to come off straight. A good dose of penetrating oil would be a good idea, also.
