Mine started clunking on the Down Shift after I had changed the Oil Filter Housing Gasket.
It turned out I dislodged the Vacuum Line going to the Modulator. After reconnecting it the down shifting returned to normal.

A cracked Modulator Cap will also cause a Vacuum leak.
