This is my chopped spring 300CD based on info I gathered from the threads.

This is with a photo shopped wheels added to my cut job.

Rear:

I cut the rear 1.5 coils. This decreased the roll a whole lot.
I used 1 nub shims to preserve as much spring and cushion as possible.

I used Bilstein HDs, but like the ride of Bilstein Comforts better. I changed the back to Comforts and it is pretty good. If I was to do it over again, I would cut 1.25 because it will still eliminate the gap and conserve spring.

The ride is still good but not as good as stock, but stock has awful roll. At 1.5 coils, there is very little roll. You have to find the best middle ground, which is in my mind 1.25 which would have a nice ride, have no wheel gap and decrease roll tremendously.

Front:

I cut the front 2.0 coils. I have some 205 65 15 edited tires and this is rubbing when simultaneously go up a driveway with the wheels turned.

I had Bilstein HDs on for a few months and the Comforts take the small bumps softer. You do not need HD for handling because the coil cut eliminates the roll.

The theory of front HDs and rear Comforts is bunk. There is not a balanced adjustment to the initial hit and the shocks dampening are not synchronous. I have new comforts on front and rear and it is very good.

You can see in the previous posts, the front 1.5 cuts still leave a visual wheel gap.

And the 2.0 cuts with a 3 nub shim has tire issues. I might solve this when I put on my lower profile wheels. (or I will have to roll my fenders) Stay tuned.

But if I were to do it over, I would cut it 1.75 coils in the front with Bilstein Comforts and three nub shims.

Hope this helps.
