PP officially has ~50K members but only about 10% have posted 100 postings or more so I'll say there are ~5K members who are or who have been active.

During busy times there will be ~500 members at a time. Of those about ~50 at a time may be perusing OD.

For every 50 members on PP there are ~250 lurkers, viewing but not members.

Given all that, i.e. 50 members at a time MY ESTIMATE is ~10% have, for whatever reason, strongly-developed psychological 'blind-spots' that when touched cause them to 'go nuts.'

There are certain topics, certain personalities, certain patterns that just push these guy's buttons.

Now everyone has 'stuff' but this 10% revel in venting their disturbances.

Some have put me in this category. I'll let the ~45 reasonable members and ~250 spectators decide for themselves but realize these comments are not directed at you.

This is the part of myself that I have chosen (or recognized) to not question. It's my internal, personal choice. It is not an external matter. It's how I know me.

Everyone has an analogous non-rational (call it arbitrary if you will) aspect of self-definition. It's what it means to be a human. It's universal. Let's respect each other enough that we don't start throwing punches at this aspect of self.

I can take it, trust me, but it will turn into a metaphorical blood-bath and NOTHING is accomplished.

The operant word is attack. Questions, doubts, disinterest, civil-criticisms, etc are all fair game. Vicious, cruel, hate-filled comments and a complete disinterest (I would say an incapacity) to discuss, reason, ponder, consider any other perspective is out-of-bounds in my world.

I wont let you trash my kids. I wont let you trash my wife. I wont let you trash my Saviour.

If you believe that this is such an essential right and you must degrade GOD as other's know Him I'll attempt to raise enough funds so you may travel to the mountainous regions of Afghanistan/Pakistan and you can tell the folks there what you think of their relationship with God.

chilcutt and other followers of Islam. I mean no disrespect to your Faith or its followers. It was the clearest example I could find of the hatefulness folks are peddling under the guise of critical analysis.
