to amplify that, it's not at all pretty when it's almost ready to have your spring fall off.
Get the car on a lift and do a walk-under. Look at the metal that retains the top of the spring. You don't want to see any rust there.

Also, check the front end components for wiggle and spin the tires by hand looking to see if they are out-of-round due to rim damage.
