2 things.
1. I don't know that they did use a god as a reason for what they did
2. Assuming they did do it in the name of god, it is about as right as what Osama did in the name of god. IOW, no, it doesn't make anything any more right. Just a nice reason. Remember Hitler? All he wanted was "Lebensraum". Territory needed for a nation's natural development.
