I agree, I hate opening a hood and seeing a bunch of black plastic boxes. My new car looks like this under the hood:



Still plasticy,but the only main areas that are covered up are the battery, fusebox, and intake box. Everything else is really easy to get to, and the valve cover is a true valve cover, not a 15-piece snap together myriad of cosmetics. Seems as though VW knows that about 75% of their GTIs are modified
