Make sure you cleaned the top and side holes in that jet. A cleaner for welding tips works really well.

Always check your compression before you spend much time on an engine, especially a throw-away engine.

I have a HF Greyhound Honda clone engine on a mower that works really well. Cheap on sale and coupons. You have to dinker around with the cable connections if you want those to work. The shaft length could be an issue.
