Thanks for the update. I had not read that he had any military experience so thanks for the clarification.
Being born in '45 and then very wisely going straight to college after high school, he undoubtedly got a deferment and then got past the prime draft years. This happened to MANY a young person of my age and older. If my act had been together well enough for college straight out of high school, I may never have made it to the military either. With the threat of draft breathing down my neck, I joined.
BTW, the draft for Vietnam build up didn't get cranked up hard until about '66. He was almost out of college at that time.
