Its a big deal over here. I don't know how many "economy" diesels you have over in Aus but all that has really caught on across the pond is some german diesels and the big diesel hauler trucks. The fact that an American automaker has put out a diesel car is a HUGE deal since the last time the Americans put out a diesel it was an enormous flop (80s caddies and oldsmobiles) and were crappy cars to begin with. The VW and MB diesels have almost a cult following (small but very dedicated here) but the mainstream consumer almost never considers it. I'd actually be very interested in hearing about the diesel market in Australia--its almost a car market that we don't hear about in the states aside from the Pontiac G8 which is a rebadged Holden. BTW, I am really looking forward to the Bathurst 1000 this weekend, its a race I've always wanted to see but this is the first time its been televised in my area  I'll have to DVR it though since I'll be at Chadfest 2011 yappin it up with the fellow MB nuts
