Is there any particular settings (adjustment) for the trans and throttle cables on an '95 E320?

I noticed on both, they had a lot of slack. I have adjusted both a bit, but not to the point of removing all slack. They both still have a little.

I have felt the difference in the gas pedal and in when the transmission will downshift.

Your expertise would be greatly appreciated.
