At first I was getting one P0200 code then two of these P0200 codes and now back to only one P0200 code.

I had to replace the intake manifold with the old gasket, could this cause this in any way?
The only way I initially got it started and I know it cant be good for the starter was engageing it for about 20 seconds and even when the engine seems to be started. It was the only way to initially keep it running.

When I changed out the glow plugs on my 96 e300d, I too got the same P0200 code come up after the repair was done. On the underside of the intake manifold, there are the resonance flap controllers, connected electrically with small connectors. Upon closer inspection, I found one of the wires had somehow broken, and once repaired, the code was cleared and has not returned. I would clean both electrical plugs with electronic cleaner, and make sure the wires are intact, and that they are both firmly seated. Even with the code, my car did not exhibit any issues with starting or acceleration. Hope this helps.
The generic reader code P0200 can come up as a result of the following MB specific codes from stealership or a good independant MB shop:
P1220=Fuel quantity actuator (IFI) (Y23/1)
P1223=Fuel rack position sensor (Y23/1l1)
P1475=Resonance intake line switchover valve (Y22/7)
P1476=Resonance intake manifold switchover valve (Y22/6)
P1611=IFI control module (N3/7)
P1613=IFI control module (N3/7)
P1614=IFI control mudule (N3/7) or fuel metering actuator (Y23/1k1) or fuel rack position sensor (Y23/1l1)
P1617=control module not coded
P1622=Electohydraulic shut-off actuator (Y1/1)
