Yup, if I would have gone to the dealership for the Check Engine light on the E420, it would have cost $180 for the diagnostic, $90 labor to inspect tank ventilation system and replace the gas cap, and $15 for the cap.

$285.00 for above vs $15.00 for borrowing a buddies scanner, and buying a new cap. I'm spit-balling numbers in the first paragraph but don't think I'm too far off.
