A great time was had (and the best chili I've had in ages), Sunday, at Toms' place in Alexandria with six 113 SLs attending, ranging fom 'show cars' to 'drivers'. I brought my 1962 portable German battery 'compact disc' player and several of my SLs, including a 113 280SL (all 1:18 scale) in the back seat of Miss Daisy. A couple of the (full size) SLs needed some minor repairs near the end of the day (shriekng belt, wiring...I started to think maybe, I was at a British car event!) but the forcasted rain stayed away for the whole afternoon. I got to test drive Toms' georgeous, gold 280SL showcar. Now I wish, even more, that I'd been able to hang on to my, poor basket case, 230SL, 12 years ago....
