hrrm....I replaced the fuel filter on my 300E by just opening the filler cap. The filter leaked gas when I loosened it, but I placed an oil pan underneath, and it only got my hands dirty. There really wasn't much fuel leaked out, and I don't think you will need to clamp any of the hoses shut...
