I don't know if this is off topic or not, but....

I can still remember the first conversation I had with some folks about the National Health Care thing in Canada and England. I was told that it was just a matter of time before both nations were doomed but the logic behind the 'doomed' was so silly I can't remember it.

This conversation was in 1971. England might not be what it once was, but Canada seems to be doing better than it was in the 60's.

Could it be that National Health Care was not as much of a factor in their economies as it was predicted to be?
