I like cited references to be linked. It gives me the opportunity to see whether I agree with the interpretation or summarization. When those same sorts of digests are offered but without the supporting documentation it gives me less confidence that the author is playing straight.
Recognizing that JW and Salon both have a certain perspective they promote is more than useful. But the source alone neither qualifies nor disqualifies the information. Thus, I have greater confidence in the readily documented JW information than the irritatingly absent documentation of Salon which becomes somewhat faith-based.
Maybe it's the field I'm in. I recognize that is not the norm.
