And these are the people we are supposedly trying to help.

I spent seven months in Afghanistan once. I concluded that:

1. The people there are really seriously messed up and have been for hundreds if not thousands of years.

2. They like being seriously messed up and have no desire to change.

3. There is no compelling reason why the United States or any other country should make the massive effort it would take to change the Afghan people.
