Yet you're OK with going to a restaurant or theatre where an unknown number of people might be strapping? Should we start requiring searches for all public places?

BTW - I'm not opposed to TSA security within reason. When it gets unreasonable (i.e. strip searches of old women, confiscation of bags with images of guns, "your papers please") then I start to have a problem with it.
