Ahhh, thanks. Now I understand what is going on. Here is the part (and yes, it is the same for the 300D and the 380SL).


And suddenly this picture, with the bushing pressed in, makes complete sense.



I just couldn't get past the mindset that a rubber seal is designed to be pulled out and a new one pressed in in it's place.

The part number is 115 410 00 32.
