I've been on a few blind dates. The last couple of posts make me want to relate a very odd conversation I just had.

I played in a golf tournament to benefit the golf programs at my alma mater yesterday and two of the other amateurs in my group were a married couple. They were very nice people and at about our 12th hole, the lady of the couple sidled up to me and said that she thought she'd heard that I am single. I confirmed that fact and she asked if it would be okay for her to describe a close friend of theirs (from church...!) whom they thought I might like to meet. After 11 holes I've known these people for what, about 2.75 hours, but my playing partner was well-intentioned and I thought it impolite to not at least listen. The lady then, in a somewhat hesitant manner, asked if it was true that I am an attorney (it is, for the time being) and a partner in a law firm (sort of, I suppose). She then, very earnestly, made sure that I was aware that her friend was not interested in luxury automobiles, large homes or fat bank accounts. I assured her that I wouldn't be the source for 2 of 3 of those in any case.

Anyway, I thought it rather odd that someone would, in describing someone as a potential date, bring all of that into the picture.

Now - a question my own for you guys. What happens if all that you have to drive are nice cars? I could take my bike, but that might ruin the whole thing, since I'd be wearing the lycra....
