My dad had a fleet of those. More like a '60 runner, a '59 barn find and 2 '58 parts cars. The gear indicator of the runner was on the dash to the left of the speedo rather than on the steering column. Among the first gasoline cars to have fuel injection and the last to have a chassis lube pedal for the driver. I don't recall having to turn on the fuel pump to start it.
The M189 ain't no Diesel. The W189 is a 300d in literature after the W186 300/300b/300c, simply 300 on the trunk lid.
