If your chrome sorrounding frame is in good shape, consider doing what I did on my 560SEL - replace the grey plastic grid and the vertical and horizontal chrome strips - all available separately at very low cost. You will have to trim the chrome strips to length, but it's easy to dismantle arnd reassemble the grille.
