The price of brakes parts and distributer caps come to mind....
I have a '61 190SL and a ponton W128 sedan, when I had the chance to buy a nice running 1959 300d for $7000 a few years ago, I passed for the same reasons. It's hard enough to deal with the people who supply parts for the regular oldtimers, but the 300 is on a different level. Somewhat akin to Rolls parts. My number one dream car always has been a long wheelbase W112 body 300SE with a Becker Mexico.
