Ah, but Sir, I am usually happy. You see, when you do your worst, I am mentally prepared so you don't disappoint me. When you score better, I am pleasantly surprised. OTOH, expecting the best in people, quite often leads to disappointment when they fail to live up to your hope. No hope, no disappointment. Think of it like lending money to relatives. Don't expect to see it back. IF you do get it back, you are happy. If not, you wrote it off. I have the same attitude at the casino. Write off the stake. Win money? Happy. Break even? Happy. Lose the stake? Fine. Already considered lost before I went in.
