Wow! brain fade. It's a 1981 300SD. I've been checking on things today and it's begining to look like bad turbo seals or a problem in #3 cylinder such as a cracked ring or piston, or a blown head gasket, maybe valve guides. Higher pressure blow by makes it smoke worse. I checked the egr tube and it was not the source of oil and it smoked with it disconnected. The exhaust connection at the turbo is wet with oil. There is visible oil at the bottom of the down pipe. I am going to pull the exhaust off the back of the turbo to see if it's got oil there.
