Definitely buy new and plan to send that Single Six back to Ruger for rework. I had a Single Six and it didn't shoot worth a damn. One hole in the cylinder was off because I always had a flyer whenever I shot it...I knew it was the pistol because I can hit with my .44 flattop (same frame geometry).
Got serious about figuring it out one afternoon and went to the range with some Eley match ammo...marked the cylinder so I'd know one hole from another and sho-nuf the flyer was from the same hole each time.
It was a used piece so I just took it to the next gun show and traded it for an
Izmash CM-2. The only flyers out of that CM-2 are the ones you put downrange.
