If bandwidth is a concern, why not automatically delete any posts over a certain age, say 24 months? I doubt that much irreplaceable information would be lost, as many people don't use the search function, often causing the same question to be presented and responded to on a regular basis (monovalve and OVP relay questions are prime examples).
