3 days of drilling is not worth it. You can have the whole ignition assembly in about an hour. The one major stumbling block could be that if the electrical connection has the locking T on it, it may be difficult to separate the electrical back part from the mechanical front part. I think the only option in a case like that is to forcibly break that T in order to separate the two. Others with more experience on this should comment.
