Last ticket I got was in a VA speed trap. We had been traveling ~75 on the interstate all day across 3 states.
Officer: Do you know why I stopped you?
Me: I figured that you would tell me.
Officer: Do you know how fast you were going?
Me: I haven't received a ticket in years so apparently I normally drive the speed limit.
Him: You were doing 78 in a 60.
Me: I don't think so. Perhaps we'll meet again in court.
I consider police to be armed and dangerous thugs who have authority conferred only and unfortunately by their badge and do my best to stay away. I paid the ticket & went on.
Back in my younger days in Chicago, one could keep the ticket off one's record by simply entrusting the officer to deliver your fine dollars to the proper authority. A $100 bill usually took care of it. Alternatively, a discussion with your Democratic precinct captain would work. Richard J Sr was in control. I seem to remember his shoot to kill order around 1968 also. Those were the days. We could even go to the store without being on camera the entire time.
